When can I register to Volunteer? Volunteer applications are open from Tuesday 24 October 9:00am Tuesday 14 November 5:00pm.

How do I apply to Volunteer? You can apply online during the above application period. If you have any issues with applying online, please contact us.

Is there an age restriction to Volunteer? You must be 18 years old to volunteer for the event.

Where is the event held? Christmas Lunch in the Park is held in Wellington Square, East Perth.

Where can I find more information about Volunteering? Watch the videos, read the Volunteer section of the website , attend the briefing sessions.

Is there a breakdown of Volunteer jobs and roles available? Please read the variety of amazing and fun Volunteer position descriptions.

What time on Christmas Day do I need to be available? There are a variety of shift times available between 7:0am - 5:00pm. Most roles are 3 or 4 hours in duration and required between 8:30am - 2: 30pm.

Are there any Volunteer opportunities other than on Christmas Day? Yes, there area variety of shifts available in the lead up to the event, including helping with setup and decorating the event site in the week of the event and assisting with the Volunteer Briefing evenings in mid-December.

Will I receive Christmas lunch on the day? Volunteers whose shifts span across lunchtime share in the celebrations of  Christmas Day with a delicious cold festive lunch served at midday. Water, fruit and snacks are available for all other volunteer shifts.

Can I volunteer with family and friends? Whilst we will do our best to place Volunteers together, it cannot be guaranteed.

Can I bring my children with me when I’m volunteering? When you are Volunteering you need to be able to carry out your role without the responsibility of looking after young children. You can bring your children on the day but you must ensure there is an additional adult (18 years old+) to supervise them at the event. I’m unable to volunteer this year but I’d still like to support those in need. How can I do that? There are couple of ways that you can help, make a donation via our Donate A Plate campaign page, host an event and help raise funds through our new fundraising page, or make a donation direct with Mission Australia.

What happens if it rains on the day? Thats very unlikely! The event will continue if it rains as the lunch is held in a marquee. Remember to check the weather forecast prior and dress appropriately Its most likely to be hot and sunny. Bucket hats and sunscreen are available.

How do I get there on the day? Public transport will be running on Christmas Day but on a reduced timetable. Details can be found regarding bus stops, trains and parking on the website. Please note there is no Volunteer parking available on the event site.

Can I bring food for the guests? All food is catered especially for the day. Please do not bring food in from outside the event for lunch. Please also remember this is an alcohol-free event, so do not bring any with you to celebrate with the guests.

Can I bring gifts for the guests? Whilst we appreciate your kindness, gifts are provided for the guest children and all adults receive a Carepack, so please do not bring gifts. It is important that all guests receive the same experience.

Can I dress up in Christmas festive gear? We encourage fun and Christmas spirit on event day, so by all means add some tinsel ad sparkle to your outfit, so long as it s not going to stop you from carrying out your role or it covers up your Volunteer uniform.
