Volunteer Position Descriptions
To prepare for the event on Christmas Day, we recommend reading the below position descriptions, to help you choose a suitable volunteer role. This will ensure you choose a role that compliments your strengths and areas of experience and will also help you understand how the roles work together on Christmas Day.
Supervisors please note, you will receive additional information, training and an on-site meeting in the week leading up to the event (time to be confirmed).
To help you choose which role you might be interested in and to understand the run-down of each volunteer position, please read the position descriptions below.
There’s something for everyone with roles such as face painter, food n’ beverage crew, steward and table host, to games team, set-up team, gift n’ care pack distributors and supervisor roles as well.
More detailed information will be provided at the various induction sessions pre-event, once you’ve been allocated your role(s).

A lover of people and the outdoors and conscientiously contributing from behind the scenes, the Environmental Elves have an essential role of maintaining a neat, tidy, rubbish and hazard free environment, enabling all guests and volunteers to enjoy themselves safely Following COVID 19 safe event plans and measures is crucial to the safe delivery of the event.
Face Painting Team
You love to express your creativity with face paint and to share this with children. You enjoy bringing faces to life with a flair for painting tigers, unicorns and Spiderman! There’s no stopping you create smiles on the children’s dials with colour, glitter and fun! You find the energy of children infectious and have just as much fun as they do!
Feedback Collection Supervisor
You’re a lover of data collection to help the Christmas Lunch in the Park Team to continue to deliver a magical and supportive event. This data will assist in the future development of the event to ensure we continue to meet the needs of our guests, volunteers and learn some basic attendee information, with a soft and compassionate approach. It’s Christmas Day after all! You will lead your small team in ensuring the various data collection activities are met, allocating your team and rounding up the iPads and paperwork at the end.
Feedback Collection Team
You’re a lover of data collection to help the Christmas Lunch in the Park Team to continue to deliver a magical and supportive event. This data will assist in the future development of the event to ensure we continue to meet the needs of our guests, volunteers and learn some basic attendee information, with a soft and compassionate approach. It’s Christmas Day after all! You will happily gather the information required, working together with your team mates to get the job done.
SUPER indeed! Experienced in events management or hospitality, you ’re an operationally fit “smooth operator”. As one of 4 supervisors overseeing 1 of four designated zones, you will a apply your relevant expertise and ensure a smooth and collaborative operation for all. The calm to the proverbial storm!
Food & Beverage Crew
You prefer making people’s day from behind the scenes, working in a tight knit team to ensure all mouths are fed. In the Food & Beverage Crew, you’ll be in a dynamic environment as you unload, sort and distribute Christmas. Without you, the show could not go on.
Food & Beverage Supervisor
As one of 2 Food & Beverage supervisors, you’ll be the calm in the proverbial storm as you supportively steer your team through the successful preparation of the three course meal. You’ll oversee as they unload, sort and distribute all Christmas lunch packages Your attention to detail, love of people and relevant experience will guarantee success for all!
The sporty, “up and at ‘em” Games Team comprises a team of 8 energetic and enthusiastic kids at heart, who’ll work to ensure the utmost pleasure of our most special guests. Christmas is a day for the kids after all. Entertainment includes a range of outdoor sports such as cricket and football , with other games and activities on offer throughout the day .
The sporty, “up and at ‘em” Games Team comprises a team of 8 energetic and enthusiastic kids at heart, who’ll ensure the utmost pleasure of our most special guests: the children. Experienced working with children yourself, the Games Team Supervisor will ensure both user entertainment and safety, as our youngest guests eagerly engage the services of your team.
Haircut/ Barber/ Braider Team
You’re all about the feel-good factor! Helping people to feel good again with a haircut, a buzz cut or a funky braid. You’ll be helping in the ‘Wellness Zone’ where there will also be showers, laundry, donated clothing and other essential services to help bring dignity back to our guests. There’s nothing like getting spruced up for the occasion and that all-rejuvenating feeling of a fresh shower, new threads and a sleek hair-do!
Guest Transport Team
You’re a beam of sunshine! A lover of people, diversity and crowds, with a friendly and agreeable nature. You’ re superbly placed for greeting guests as they arrive ensuring everyone feels welcome and at ease, then directing them in to the care of a friendly Steward. In a team of 8 , this role assists with bus runs, train station directions to shuttle bus and parking directions
Guest Transport Supervisor
The logistics focussed Supervisor is all about getting guests to & from the event happily & on time. Being a people person, managing a team of 8 you will be comfortable directing your team and engaging with guests. Ensuring the bus keeps to the schedule and route & your team have the train station pick-ups & bus stop all under control coordination will be what drives you.
Guest Welcome Supervisor
Experienced in events, hospitality or customer service leadership, you’re a multi-skilling masterpiece with a warm, welcoming and supportive nature. You’ll oversee a Guest Welcome Team (of 6), who’ll be ensuring safe entry of all 1200 guests on arrival and into the care of the Stewards.
Guest Welcome Team
A beam of sunshine! A lover of people, diversity and crowds, with a friendly and agreeable nature. You’re superbly placed for greeting guests and helping them queue safely as they arrive, ensuring everyone feels welcome and at ease. In this team of 6, you’ll assist with the safe entry of all guests, following any necessary processes and checks, before directing them into the care of a friendly Steward, who will cheerfully usher them to their choice of a table or picnic zone.
You’re such a star, when the party is over, you are there to help pack up to ensure we leave the park exactly as we found it! It will be all hands on deck, working in a team of 10, maintaining the Christmas spirit, to get the job done Full of enthusiasm, you’ll be doing a range of physical duties including sorting, packing, moving furniture , loading, rounding up bins for collection & dismantling/packing decorations.
Pack-Up Team Supervisor
You’re such a star, when the party is over, you are there to lead the team packing up the show to ensure we leave the park exactly as we found it! It will be all hands-on deck, directing a team of 10, maintaining the Christmas spirit, to get the job done! Full of enthusiasm, you’ll be working with your team doing a range of physical duties including sorting, packing, moving furniture, loading, rounding-up bins for collection & dismantling/packing decorations.
As one of a group of hosts designated to a picnic area of up to 96 guests, your role is to share the Christmas spirit by welcoming your picnic guests and facilitating light and entertaining discussion as you enjoy Christmas lunch together With your further encouragement post-lunch, your guests will continue to enjoy the ongoing festivities and support services available to them!
Anything process and safety is your game! Experienced in OHS or Risk Management , you have a keen eye for detail and love an operation that is safe and ticks the compliance boxes . You are the checking eyes of the event, whilst the Event Manager is steering the ship. You will not only monitor implement ation of safe practices around the site but will also coordinate a team of 8 keen and eager Environmental “Elves” who kee p the scene clean You are an important cog in the event wheel!
Santas Elves – Gift & Carepack Distribution Supervisor
Joy to the world and the face of Christmas! Santa’s Elf says it all; your role is to lead your team to excite to the children’s delight, as they await the sighting of the main man himself, and ensure they receive their Christmas gift to their table. You will work tirelessly supporting your fellow volunteer crew, whilst ensuring all adults (14 years old plus) receive their carepack. You’ve got this!
Santa's Elves-Gift & Carepack Distribution Team
Joy to the world and the face of Christmas! Santa’s Elf says it all; your role is to excite to the children’s delight, as they await the sighting of the main man himself, and ensure they receive their surprise gift to their table. You will work tirelessly supporting your fellow volunteers, also ensuring all adults (14 years old plus) receive their carepack. You’ve got this!
You’re so eager to get into the Christmas spirit, that you arrive early to help with the setting up! Eager to apply your ‘all hands on deck’ enthusiasm, you’ll be doing a range of physical duties including unloading, setting up, sorting, moving furniture and/or arranging decorations.
You’re an “up and at ‘em kind of person who loves people and enjoys life’s activity . As a Steward, you’ll offer guests the warmest of welcomes as you escort them to their tables to meet their respective Table Host. From there, you continue to meet the needs of patrons seated at the tables assigned to your care, as you jovially ferry their food and drinks.

As the host of a table of up to 8 guests, your role is to share the Christmas spirit by welcoming your table guests and facilitating light and entertaining discussion as you enjoy Christmas lunch together With your further encouragement post lunch, your guests will continue to enjoy the ongoing festivities and support services available to them!
Volunteer Concierge Team
You’re administration royalty! Cool under pressure and with the warmest of welcomes , you enjoy dotting every ‘i’ and crossing every ‘t’. As (one of six) Volunteer Concierge Team members responsible for registering some 350 wonderful volunteers on arrival at site you’ll be directing each to their relevant supervisor. Thanks to you, each zone is swiftly and appropriately crewed and the event kicks off without a hitch.
Volunteer Concierge Supervisor
SUPER indeed! Experienced in events and/or office management, you ’re multi skilled and operationally fit, with a friendly, “cool as a cucumber” exterior. Overseeing a team of six Volunteer Concierge Team members your collective mission is to register some 350 wonderful volunteers on arrival at site directing each to their relevant supervisor, offering administrative support throughout the day.
Volunteer Information Supervisor
Welcome to the fast paced information highway! You love dotting the I's and crossing the T's making sure all Supervisors and Volunteers have all they need for their roles. Having all the answers is your jam, helping to guide our fabulous volunteers to where they need to be with the right equipment. The Information Tent is your home for the day, where you'll have everything you need to keep things moving and shaking!
Water Station Crew
You’re a water baby! A person who likes to ensure everyone has what they need on a warm summer’ day. As a Water Station Crew volunteer , you’ll assist guests by filling their water bottles for them, as they approach the drinking water stations. Hygiene and guest safety is our number one priority and your diligence to ensure a hygienic re fill every single time is what makes you tick! You have high standards and love to keep everyone hydrated.
Wellness Zone Team
You’re a people person, who loves getting amongst it and enjoys life’s activity. You’ll assist guests in the ‘Wellness Zone’ for a shower, a haircut or donated clothing selection. There’s nothing like getting spruced up for the occasion and that all-rejuvenating feeling of a fresh shower, new threads and a sleek hair-do!
